Many foundations that grant funds for projects such as ours have designated their funds be used at this time to help the non-profits they work with through COVID Response Grants. These grants provide PPE items and are also for other necessary COVID related expenses. As a result, our grant writing had to be put on hold.
Recently, however, we were able to meet with a representative of the Golisano Foundation. From their website: “The Golisano Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in the nation devoted exclusively to opening doors to opportunity, changing negative perceptions and stereotypes, and forging unprecedented partnerships to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have pathways to personal dignity, independence and the best possible expression of their abilities and talents throughout their lifetimes.”
Ellen Pachioli, Connie Stives and Ruth Kartalis met via Zoom with Erica Dayton, Grants Manager for the Golisano Foundation. She said that their foundation has funded groups and projects similar to ours and was very positive about our ability to work with them. We are a bit early in our development, however, so she asked us to continue to reach out to her as we move forward.
