Transit Valley Country Club (TVCC) Women’s Group held a season-long charity event to benefit Home of My Own of WNY – and we couldn’t be more thankful and proud to be this year’s nonprofit recipient.
The decades-old TVCC annual fundraiser has grown over the years from a single event to what is now, a summer of fun and fundraising where the chosen beneficiary is a local, non-profit 501(c)(3) who has demonstrated community need. The fundraiser was comprised of several member events for not only the Women’s group, but for families and members alike with the premier culminating event was the Charity Women’s Golf Guest Day that took place on August 10th.
Ellen Pachioli, Home of My Own of WNY, and Karen Cuddy-Miller, Board Member, were chosen to present the mission, vision and values of the organization to the TVCC Women’s Board early last fall. Once the committee learned of the organization’s goals and its potential impact on the entire ID/D community, they shared the importance in helping fund the mission.
TVCC members helped to support the charity all summer with this year’s club events including a Bingo Night, a Games Galore night for the whole family, a pickleball tournament, corporate sponsorships and more. Preview Night brought an evening cocktail party, 50/50 raffle, fun golf contests, and auction on August 9th all leading up to the main event the following day. A luncheon, golf tournament and continued auction was a fine way to cap off the fundraiser on August 10th.
We are grateful to not only be this year’s recipient but to be in such good company of many local nonprofit organizations who have benefitted in the past. Previous charity beneficiaries have included Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Children’s Advocacy Center @ Best Self, St. Luke’s Children’s Gospel Village and many other worthy nonprofit causes in the Western New York Community.
The Women’s Committee has again chosen Home of My Own of WNY to be the beneficiary of the TVCC 2024 Charity Event. Home of My Own is incredibly grateful and honored for the opportunity to not only continue fundraising efforts at TVCC but for the continued opportunity to spread awareness of the housing deficit facing individuals with developmental disabilities. Transit Valley Country Club is truly a friend of our most vulnerable population.
We had 102 golfers and 29 caddies:
New Chipping Contest on Preview Night proved to be quite popular:
